Trinidad and Tobago’s next Commissioner of Police must have technology uppermost in his or her mind. Facing moving hotspots, threats in the air, on the coast, along the highways and in the deep forests, the Commissioner cannot conceive of a fight that involves feet and firearms. Even if the acting Police Commissioner does believe that more manpower and vehicles will slow the onslaught, then the slow pace of recruitment, the absence of a recruitment and training facility as well as the large number of officers who are unavailable because of sickness, injury or study and the general lack of sufficient manpower makes it impossible for any serious Police Commissioner in Trinidad and Tobago to be heavily reliant on feet and firearms in dealing with crime.

Is crime working for party politics. Yes is the obvious answer. How dare I conclude such treasonous thought. Well look at it this way.--
Politics in T&T IS based on race. Which race seems more entepreneural and have more established businesses, answer, the Indians. Why chase the indians to migrate to avoid kidnap, to retain and grow government dependency. With oil and gas prices high in the near past, the government could buy dependency from a willing non-thinking (religous type mental active) people. Now that prices are down, the and the free money support threatened, the government refuses to stop squander as squander is the support system. Oil and gas clearance sale to money. Money to non-wealth creating activity building nonproductive building. Employment from these to income for the masses. Oil + Gas = $$, $$ to dependency = votes. Simple.
